Rockville has a lot going on, from Rockville Town Square to the shops along Rockville Pike. If you want to learn jiu-jitsu from a world champion, you only have to drive a few exits north. Rockville is the county seat of Montgomery County, Maryland, just down Route 355 from our academy.

Culture of Jiu Jitsu Academy is about 15 minutes away in Gaithersburg. Hop on I-270, take the I-370 exit, and you're almost here. Classes are led by IBJJF World Champion and UFC fighter Max Gimenis, along with co-owner and black belt Eric Philcox.

Whether you live off Veirs Mill Road or work near Montgomery College, training fits into a busy week. Kids train after school, adults train in the evening, and a free 7-day trial lets you try it all first.

From central Rockville, get on I-270 North toward Frederick. You'll ride it for about 4 miles into Gaithersburg.

Take the I-370 East exit, then use exit 2 for Frederick Avenue (MD-355) in Gaithersburg.

Follow Frederick Avenue north for about 1.7 miles to 220 Girard St, Suite H. The whole trip is about 7 miles. Look for our door on the back of the building, across from the fenced basketball court.

How long is the drive from Rockville?

About 7 miles, or roughly 15 minutes up I-270 in normal traffic. Going up Frederick Avenue (MD-355) is shorter in miles but usually a few minutes slower.

Is this a good place for total beginners?

Yes. All of our programs are designed for people starting from zero. Wear workout clothes without zippers, bring a water bottle, and use your free 7-day trial pass to see if it's a fit.

Can my child train too?

Yes. Our Kids Jiu-Jitsu program serves ages 3–12, with Little Roots and Big Roots groups sorted by age. Your child can take a free trial class before you sign up.

Is there parking?

Yes, plenty. There's a large lot right outside. Look for our door on the back side of the building, facing the fenced basketball court.

What times are classes?

Classes run throughout the week: after-school kids classes, evening adult classes, plus early-morning, noon and weekend sessions. Current times are on our schedule page, or call (410) 695-3400.
